Despite Zuckerberg continuously shutting down the concept of the ‘dislike’ button, there seems to be something stanky going on…
Last year 'Reactions' were introduced as an alternative
to the original ‘Like’ button. Although I’d like to consider myself more of a ‘Liker’ I’m the first to admit I’ve dabbled in the occasional WOW or HAHA of late. The Reactions buttons have in fact been so popular since their launch in 2016 that they have now been used over 300 billion times. That is A LOT of selfie lovin’.
Rumour has it that we might start seeing Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry get a new friend, or enemy at that. The 'Dislike' Button. But before you start getting click happy on the thumbs down, he’s not quite where we would expect him.
A few secretly leaked screenshots (our favourite kind of hot-off-the-press-news) show us how the Dislike button will work. Although we won’t see the new feature sitting pretty with the more merrier Facebook Reactions, the button is being rolled out in the form of a message reaction.
It’s no secret that Facebook users have been campaigning for the tiny blue thumb since the beginning of Facebook-time so it’s no surprise it’s being tried and tested. However, the jury is still out whether the Dislike button will add a little more unnecessary hate to a cyber land that needs all the love and cuddles and rainbows it can get.
