Well its no surprise but this morning Facebook took its lowest blow to the Snap V Facey hustle and the backlash has been #real!
Just 6 hours ago Facebook released news that they were ‘excited to introduce the new Facebook camera.' Facebook blogged that they 'think it’ll give everyone more ways to express themselves and share what they’re up to. So from now on, you can just let your camera do the talking.’
Photo Frames, Camera Effects and Facebook Stories sound oddly familiar and we’re thinking that a few disgruntled users might just agree…
The Camera Effects tool uses similar ‘lense’ style filters to create fun videos and still images which users can send to pals. Not that this particularly needs to be explained because realistically we are dealing with the exact same platform that we have seen on Snapchat for the last 18 months.
BUT… can you really blame them? Digital manipulation, branded overlays and consumer sharing is becoming the norm for most social platforms. With consumers rallying for these features there is no reason for Facebook to ignore the clear next step in consumer created content!
