We all saw it coming and have been praising the rise of AR for some time now. Snap are the first to incorporate the technology into their platform launching their newest feature; World Lenses.
Word Lenses are a popular twist on the famous face filters we have grown to know, love and rely on to make us look #flawless.
The new technology allows users to incorporate floating rainbows, flowers and OMGs into their snaps using 3D lenses. The line up of lenses are set to change daily and are just the start of incorporating augmented reality into the world of Snap.
Although Snap have not yet referred to the tech as AR, instead describing the new feature that ‘...paints the world with 3D experiences’, the rise of AR is here and here to stay.
So how will this impact Snap and their revenue in selling Snap lenses and Geofilters. BIG $$ that’s how!
Although the 3D lenses are only available for general consumer use we are picking that it is only a matter of time before we see floating Big Macs and Inflatable Nike ticks trawling our Snaps in 3D form.
As history has shown, Snap is the leader when it comes to releasing NEW features so we are keeping a watchful eye on how their competitors may react!
